William McDaniel Director Public Works/ Planning & Zoning

William McDaniel assumed duties as Public Works Director in June of 2006, upon City Council’s confirmation of his appointment by Mayor Lawrence Collins.

Mr. McDaniel has spent most of his adult life in Byron and has obtained an extensive amount of management experience throughout his career.  Mr. McDaniel has also worked 24 years for the Department of the Air Force, and through this, has achieved numerous job performance citations and awards.  Mr. McDaniel has held many supervisory positions throughout his career in related fields, which well qualifies him for his current position as Byron’s Director of Public Works.  Through his extensive management experience and knowledge of Public Works, Mr.McDaniel has proven to be a great leader and asset to the City of Byron Public Works Department.

As Director, Mr. McDaniel is responsible for overseeing the Department’s services to Byron citizens through the planning, zoning, utilities, construction management and technical engineering of the City's public infrastructure. The Department’s responsibilities include operation and maintenance of the City’s streets and sewer systems, production and distribution of water, collection and treatment of wastewater, and permitting and regulation of public and private construction.
