| The Byron Public Works Department provides 24-hours per day, 7-days per week operations, maintenance and emergency response coverage for Byron's city water, wastewater, streets, and stormwater drainage facilities and infrastructure. Byron's Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Department protects the City's public health, safety and welfare through the regulation of land use and controlling the type, size and height of buildings. While P&Z may focus on preventing overcrowding and limiting incompatible uses, P&Z's efforts must also include transit-oriented developmenti, pedestrian-friendly commercial corridors, and preservation of the historic fabric of neighborhoods.
